Maharashtra FDA Cancels Licences of 10 Ayurvedic Drug Firms

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has permanently cancelled the manufacturing licences of 10 Ayurvedic drug companies following a statewide crackdown on non-compliant units.

The regulatory action was taken after FDA inspections uncovered serious violations that could compromise the quality, safety, and efficacy of medicines produced by these firms.

As part of the statewide drive, officials inspected all 434 licensed Ayurvedic drug manufacturing units across Maharashtra. The drive aimed to enforce compliance and address manufacturing flaws across the industry.

While grave violations at 10 units prompted the licensing authority to permanently cancel their manufacturing licences, the FDA also issued show-cause notices to 135 other manufacturers found to be in non-compliance.
