Maharashtra FDA Chief Tukaram Mundhe Calls for Focus on Food Safety and Quality

Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe called for "independence" in the food choices people make, emphasising that food consumed by the public should be safe, healthy, and of high quality rather than merely tasty.

Speaking to reporters in Mumbai on the occasion of Independence Day, Mundhe stated that the annual occasion should serve as an opportunity for people to reflect on the safety and standard of the food they consume daily.

He noted that the quality of food has a direct and lasting impact on overall public health, which in turn influences the broader development of the country.

Mundhe stressed the importance of ensuring that food standards are maintained and that citizens remain conscious of what they consume, linking nutritious and safe dietary habits directly to national well-being.
