Maharashtra FDA Conducts 2,902 Medicine Unit Inspections in Three Months

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted 2,902 inspections of drug manufacturing and sales establishments across Maharashtra between June and August 2026, according to an official statement issued on Monday.

The regulatory agency intensified its enforcement activities as part of a targeted three-month drive across the state. The inspections covered facilities involved in the manufacturing, storage, and retail sale of pharmaceutical products.

According to the FDA, the intensive exercise was aimed at verifying strict compliance with established statutory regulations governing the pharmaceutical sector. The inspections sought to ensure that medicines available to the public meet standard requirements for quality and safety.

Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe stated that ensuring access to safe, quality, and compliant medicines remains the top priority for the department.
