Maharashtra FDA Raids Ghatkopar West Dairy and Orders Rs 2.45 Crore Medicine Recall

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) launched a major statewide crackdown on July 9, 2026, which included suspending the licence of Gautam Dugdhalaya in Ghatkopar West, Mumbai, after seizing 530 kg/litres of adulterated dairy products. The regulatory action was part of 18 raids conducted across the state, which also resulted in the recall of Aciloc medicines worth Rs 2.45 crore.

During the raid in the Ghatkopar West locality of Mumbai, FDA officials targeted Gautam Dugdhalaya. The inspection led to the immediate seizure of 530 kg/litres of dairy products, which included basundi, raw milk, and ice cream. The seized items were valued at Rs 79,120.

According to FDA officials, the suspension of Gautam Dugdhalaya's licence was prompted by several serious safety and regulatory violations. The establishment was found to have violated standard labelling norms and maintained unhygienic storage conditions. Furthermore, the business failed to maintain the required cold chain necessary for preserving dairy products safely.

The operation in Mumbai was part of a larger, coordinated statewide campaign by the FDA to address food safety violations. On July 9, 2026, the agency conducted a total of 18 raids across various locations in Maharashtra. These operations led to the suspension of four food business licences in total and the registration of multiple gutkha-related cases.

In addition to the food safety violations, the FDA's crackdown extended to the pharmaceutical sector. The department ordered a major medicine recall targeting Aciloc, a drug manufactured by Cadila Pharmaceuticals. The total value of the recalled Aciloc medicines is estimated at Rs 2.45 crore.

The FDA's coordinated efforts on July 9, 2026, aimed to address both substandard food distribution and pharmaceutical non-compliance across Maharashtra, resulting in significant seizures and the suspension of non-compliant business operations.
