Maharashtra FDA Seizes Stolen Petrol Worth Rs 19.77 Lakh in Mumbra

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) distribution team intercepted a tanker carrying around 10,600 litres of allegedly stolen petrol worth Rs 19.77 lakh in the Reti Bandar area of Mumbra, Thane.

FDA officials acted on specific information regarding the movement of illegally sourced petrol in the area. Upon intercepting the vehicle, officials questioned the driver and demanded documentation for the fuel consignment.

The driver failed to produce valid documents or proof of purchase for the petrol being transported in the vehicle. Following the driver's failure to account for the cargo, officials seized the tanker along with the entire quantity of fuel.

The seized tanker and the fuel have been handed over to the Thane Police for further legal proceedings.

Thane Police have launched an investigation to uncover the broader network behind the illicit fuel transport and identify other individuals involved in the theft.
