Maharashtra FDA Suspends 14 Licences of Blinkit, Zepto and Instamart Outlets

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has taken regulatory action against quick-commerce facilities operated by Blinkit, Zepto, and Instamart across the state, suspending 14 licences following inspections that uncovered alleged food safety and hygiene violations.

The enforcement drive was carried out under the direction of Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe as part of the state government's ‘Safe Food, Safe Maharashtra’ campaign, according to an official statement.

During the drive, food safety officials inspected a total of 86 online delivery facilities, including quick-commerce outlets and dark stores across Maharashtra. The inspections were aimed at verifying compliance with statutory health, cleanliness, and food handling standards.

Following the inspection of the delivery hubs, the food safety agency moved to suspend 14 licences across the state. The action forms part of a broader regulatory crackdown by the FDA targeting businesses and delivery platforms that fail to comply with established food safety requirements.
