Maharashtra FDA Suspends Licences of 13 Food Outlets Including Domino's
The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) suspended the licences of 13 food establishments across Greater Mumbai, Nashik, Palghar, and Satara—including Domino's Pizza outlets in Vile Parle West, Borivali West, and Ghatkopar West—following inspection drives conducted up to August 11, 2026.
In Greater Mumbai, the FDA suspended the licences of three Domino’s Pizza outlets operated by Jubilant FoodWorks at Vile Parle West, Borivali West, and R-City Mall in Ghatkopar West. Licences were also suspended for Mumbai Metro Dhaba and Gulshan Da Punjabi Dhaba in Bhandup, while stop-business orders were issued against two Greater Mumbai outlets.
Inspectors cited various safety and sanitation failures at the Domino's locations, including inadequate potable-water testing, poor food storage and temperature monitoring, insufficient pest-control measures, and inadequate employee hygiene facilities. The two dhabas in Bhandup faced enforcement action due to issues with cleanliness, water facilities, storage, pest control, refrigeration, and improper segregation of food.
Across other districts in Maharashtra, five establishments in Nashik lost their licences, including Hotel Sayali Restaurant and Bar in Satpur, Hotel Chhote Miyan on College Road, Mani Mart on Peth Road in Panchavati, Abhishek Bakery and Sweet in CIDCO, and Mohanlal Namkeen in Dwarka. Mohanlal Namkeen was specifically flagged for unhygienic conditions in its kitchen and storage areas. In Palghar, Daksh Hotel's licence was suspended after recording 45% non-compliance. In Satara district, licences were suspended for a Domino’s Pizza outlet at Malkapur in Karad taluka and a Sapphire Foods India Limited outlet in Karad, where inspectors flagged sauce packets lacking expiry dates.
The action followed widespread regulatory enforcement. During a drive on August 10 and 11 inspecting 120 hotels, restaurants, and dhabas, the FDA issued 54 improvement notices and suspended 11 licences. A separate special drive on August 11 targeting 104 chain-restaurant outlets resulted in 95 improvement notices, five licence suspensions, and two stop-business orders.
