Maharashtra FDA Suspends Licences of 7 Mumbai Food Outlets Over Safety Lapses

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has stepped up enforcement action across Mumbai, suspending the licences or registrations of seven food establishments after uncovering serious and unresolved food safety lapses.

The regulatory crackdown marks a shift in approach, moving beyond standard warnings and improvement notices to direct suspension orders for non-compliant outlets.

Inspectors flagged several critical hygiene and operational deficiencies during checks at the establishments. Violations included active pest infestations, poor temperature control, and conditions posing cross-contamination risks.

According to the regulatory authority, the suspensions were enforced following the repeated failure of these food businesses to rectify deficiencies that had been highlighted in earlier notices.
