Maharashtra FDA Suspends Licences of Five MCA Outlets in BKC Over Safety Lapses

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the food licences of five Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) establishments in the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) after inspections revealed multiple hygiene and food safety violations.

During the inspections, regulatory officials uncovered several lapses across the MCA facilities, including dirty and slippery floors, unclean refrigerators, improper storage of food items, and inadequate temperature control mechanisms.

The crackdown was conducted under the FDA’s statewide 'Safe Food, Safe Maharashtra' campaign, which targets non-compliant food businesses to enforce hygiene, quality, and safety standards.

Food Safety Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe stated that public health and access to safe, pure food would not be compromised.

As part of the wider drive across Mumbai, the FDA suspended the licences of nine food establishments. Multiple other food businesses across the state of Maharashtra have also faced regulatory action for failing to adhere to food-safety and hygiene regulations.
