Maharashtra FDA Suspends Licences of Four Mumbai Food Outlets Over Safety Lapses

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the licences or registrations of four food establishments across Mumbai after inspections revealed serious food safety and hygiene violations. The penalized outlets are located in Kalina, Bandra East, Dadar West, and Tilak Nagar in Chembur.

The regulatory action followed inspections carried out on Tuesday and Thursday, the FDA announced in a press note issued on Friday. Authorities found major infractions, including active cockroach and insect infestations within kitchen areas and food storage spaces, unhygienic storage practices, and the excessive use of artificial colours and monosodium glutamate (MSG).

The establishments facing action include Akshay Caterers, situated at the Garware Institute of Career Education and Development inside Mumbai University's Kalina campus, and Craftpac Hospitality Pvt Ltd, operating at Jio World Drive in Bandra East.

The FDA also suspended the licences of Marian Hotel and Restaurant in Dadar West and Bhagwati Stores in Tilak Nagar, Chembur, after inspecting officers documented lapses in basic cleanliness and food safety norms across the sites.
