Maharashtra FDA Suspends Licences of Two Mumbai Eateries and Akola Blinkit Unit

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has intensified a statewide crackdown on unhygienic food establishments, suspending the licences of two eateries in Mumbai and a facility operated by quick-commerce platform Blinkit in Akola.

The regulatory action followed routine and targeted inspections that exposed serious sanitary lapses and violations of the Food Safety and Standards Act across the inspected premises.

During the inspections, FDA officials found live cockroaches, rotten leafy vegetables, uncovered cooked food, and widespread poor sanitation. In addition, inspectors observed that food items and non-food goods were being stored together on the same racks, creating contamination risks.

Authorities initiated the licence suspensions after determining that the conditions at the facilities posed potential public health risks in direct violation of statutory food safety standards.
