Maharashtra FDA Warns Businesses Against Fake Agents Demanding Money for Licences

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA), headquartered at the Bandra-Kurla Complex, has issued an advisory warning food and drug businesses against individuals posing as department officials or authorised agents to demand money.

According to the authority, fraudsters have allegedly been approaching applicants with offers to secure or expedite licences in exchange for payments.

The regulatory body clarified on Thursday that it has not appointed or authorised any agents, middlemen, or private agencies to handle licensing applications or facilitate departmental approvals.

The warning applies to all stakeholders across the sector, including food business operators, pharmaceutical manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, and other applicants seeking official licences.

Applicants and business operators have been advised to deal directly with the authority and remain vigilant against unauthorized individuals claiming to represent the FDA.
