Maharashtra FDA Warns Eateries Near Schools of Strict Action Over Violations

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has launched an intensified statewide enforcement drive targeting eateries operating near educational institutions, warning of strict action against establishments found violating regulations.

Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe stated on Tuesday that authorities have stepped up inspections across the state. He noted that the impact of this intensified action against eateries located close to schools and colleges will become clearly visible within the next eight to 10 days.

The regulatory initiative comes after the FDA and the state Education Department jointly reviewed the prevailing situation. According to Mundhe, authorities have identified key focus areas that require immediate administrative intervention and monitoring.

To ensure coordinated execution, the FDA commissioner conducted a video conference with senior officials from the Education Department alongside representatives from local administrative bodies. During the meeting, fresh instructions were issued to field officers and local teams to carry out inspections and enforcement in "mission mode."

The ongoing drive focuses on inspecting food outlets and vendors operating in the immediate vicinity of schools and colleges to ensure full compliance with food safety and regulatory norms. Mundhe reiterated that strict measures will be enforced against any non-compliant establishments found operating around educational campuses.
