Maharashtra Gazetted Officers Urge CM Fadnavis to Raise Retirement Age to 60

The Maharashtra State Gazetted Officers' Federation has urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to increase the retirement age of state government employees from 58 to 60 years, according to a letter submitted in Mumbai on August 10.

In the representation addressed to the Chief Minister, the federation requested the state administration to consider revising the existing age limit for retirement. The officers' body stated that Maharashtra should adopt the policy already in place across much of the country.

The federation pointed out that the Central government and 25 other states have already increased the retirement age of their government employees to 60 years. Citing these precedents, the gazetted officers urged Chief Minister Fadnavis to align Maharashtra's service rules with those of the Centre and the majority of Indian states.
