Maharashtra Govt Reshuffles Senior IAS Officers at BMC, MMRDA and Cidco

The Maharashtra state government on Tuesday transferred several senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers across key departments, bringing major leadership changes to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), the City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco), and the Dharavi Redevelopment Project in Dharavi.

The administrative reshuffle, which affected around a dozen bureaucrats, was officially executed on Tuesday following a state cabinet meeting.

Among the key appointments, IAS officer Dr Ashwini Joshi has been named the additional metropolitan commissioner in the MMRDA. Joshi, who previously served as the additional municipal commissioner in the BMC, will take charge of a newly created post at the MMRDA.

Prajakata Verma, an IAS officer of the 2001 batch, has been appointed to replace Joshi as the new additional municipal commissioner in the BMC.

In another key transfer, Ashwin Mudgal, who was serving as the additional metropolitan commissioner, has been posted as the managing director (VC & MD) of Cidco. Mudgal replaces Vijay Singhal in this role.

Following his departure from Cidco, Singhal has been posted as the chief executive officer (CEO) and officer on special duty (OSD) for the Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP) in Dharavi.

Additionally, the state government transferred IAS officer P Velrasu, appointing him as the new chief executive officer (CEO) of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).

According to a senior official, while several key departments and municipal bodies saw major administrative shifts on Tuesday, some top positions in the state administration remain vacant. The senior official noted that posts such as the additional chief secretary for housing and urban development (UD-1) are yet to be filled.
