Maharashtra Halts CCMP Registration for Homoeopaths Pending High Court Verdict

The Maharashtra government on Tuesday put the Certificate Course in Modern Pharmacology (CCMP) certification and registration process on hold for registered homoeopathic medical practitioners seeking limited practice of modern medicine. The decision will remain in effect pending the final decision of the Bombay High Court and further government directions.

The freeze comes in the wake of sustained agitation, strikes, and formal representations by Central MARD and the Indian Medical Association (IMA). Both medical bodies had voiced strong objections over patient safety, professional healthcare standards, and the regulation of modern medical practice.

In an official communication addressed to the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC), the state Medical Education and Drugs Department clarified that issuing the relevant certificates would only be considered appropriate after the prevailing situation settles, administrative procedures are finalised, or a final judicial verdict is delivered by the court. Consequently, no CCMP certificates will be issued in the interim.

Central MARD welcomed the state government's decision to halt the process and stated that it would continue to monitor developments until a final court ruling and a legally sustainable policy are implemented. The association emphasised that patient safety, quality medical care, and the protection of professional standards must remain the top priority.
