Maharashtra Introduces Contractor Rating System for Infrastructure Works

The Maharashtra Public Works Department has issued a Government Resolution introducing a new performance-rating system for contractors working on major infrastructure projects across the state. The move is designed to enforce deadline compliance, elevate construction quality, and increase overall contractor accountability.

Under the new framework, the government will assess contractors using an objective rating system based directly on their actual performance during project execution. The system aims to ensure that major public works are completed efficiently and to required standards.

According to the resolution, the performance certificates issued to contractors under this system will remain valid for a duration of 12 months.

The policy change comes as the state government seeks to tighten tender rules and ensure stricter oversight of contractors managing key public infrastructure works in Maharashtra.
