Maharashtra Launches Invest Maharashtra With Rs 8.5 Lakh Crore MoUs

The Maharashtra state government on Thursday launched its global apex investment authority, Invest Maharashtra, in Mumbai, signing Memorandums of Understanding worth Rs 8.5 lakh crore. The initiative includes commitments from approximately 66 companies and is projected to generate 2.91 lakh jobs across the state.
The launch event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, Industry Minister Uday Samant, Minister Ashish Shelar, Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, and senior bureaucrats. Prominent business leaders were also present, including Noel Tata of Tata Sons, Prashant Ruia, Pranav Adani, and Geetanjali Kirloskar. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde did not attend the gathering.
The investment proposals primarily focus on the data centre, Information Technology Enabled Services, and semiconductor sectors. Among the agreements signed, the single largest commitment came from Akshat Greentech, which plans to invest Rs 1 lakh crore across Navi Mumbai and Pune.
Several other major projects were confirmed for locations throughout Maharashtra. The Sterlite group is slated to invest in digital infrastructure and semiconductor facilities in Shahpur and Khalapur. In Chandrapur, Shyam Metalics and Energy Ltd will establish a metal and mining project, while Pi-Semicon is set to build a semiconductor facility in Nashik. Additionally, Astracity will set up a data centre project in Ratnagiri.
Alongside the corporate investment announcements, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority unveiled its Existing Land Use plan. The development blueprint covers Mumbai 3 and 4, spanning an area of 2,100 square kilometres.
