Maharashtra Mandates Healthy Snacks and Meals at Government Meetings and Canteens

MUMBAI — The Maharashtra Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has decided to make the provision of healthy snacks and balanced meals mandatory at government and semi-government meetings, official events, training programmes, and canteens.

Officials stated on Tuesday that the decision is aimed at increasing the availability of nutritious food for government officers and employees, while actively encouraging healthier eating habits across public workplaces in the state.

Under the directive, government departments will be issued formal instructions to incorporate healthier food choices into meetings, official events, and daily workplace facilities.

The mandate covers all government and semi-government setups, ensuring that official gatherings, training sessions, and departmental canteens transition toward balanced meal options for staff and attendees.
