Maharashtra Orders Demolition of Illegal Highway Dhabas in 60 Days

The Maharashtra government has ordered local authorities across the state to take immediate action against illegally built dhabas, eateries, and other commercial structures located within the Right of Way (ROW) of national highways. The government has issued a 60-day ultimatum to clear these roadside encroachments.

According to officials, the crackdown is aimed at improving overall road safety. The removal of these unauthorized structures is intended to prevent roadside encroachments from obstructing vehicular traffic and creating hazards for motorists traveling on major corridors.

To enforce the drive, the state government has ordered the formation of dedicated highway safety task forces. These task forces will be established in all districts through which national highways pass to ensure the clearing of highway land and maintain road safety standards.
