Maharashtra Orders Master Plan for 300-Acre SRPF Training Centre in Wardha

The Maharashtra government has instructed officials to prepare a comprehensive master plan for setting up a modern State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) training centre across 300 acres in Wardha, Minister of State for Home (Rural) Dr Pankaj Bhoyar announced following a review meeting at Mantralaya in Mumbai.

The proposed SRPF Special Training Institute is planned to accommodate approximately 2,000 trainees at a time. The site selected for the project is located around 10 kilometres from Wardha city, 11 kilometres from Wardha railway station, and approximately 75 kilometres from Nagpur, with connectivity supported by its proximity to the Samruddhi Expressway.

During the meeting, Bhoyar reviewed a detailed presentation on the institute and directed officials to include modern academic and training blocks, a simulation laboratory, a parade ground, drill areas, sports facilities, and obstacle-training zones. The master plan will also provide for hostels, dining facilities, a dedicated medical centre, utility zones, staff quarters, a VIP guest house, an auditorium, and a conference hall.

In addition, the complex will feature an experience centre and museum intended to showcase the history, traditions, and achievements of the SRPF, offering younger generations insight into the legacy of the force.

The training curriculum is designed around the concept of "Stone to Strength," drawing an analogy between the extraction, shaping, and finishing of stone and the structured training stages that transform recruits into disciplined and professionally skilled personnel.

Bhoyar directed officials to design the main entrance of the facility on the lines of a grand fort gateway reflecting Maharashtra's heritage, while ensuring the primary access road leading to the campus is 15 metres wide. He emphasised that the overall design must be finalised in a functional and efficient manner to address the long-term operational needs of the force.

The review meeting was attended by Additional Director General of SRPF Rajkumar Vhatkar, Police Housing Corporation Managing Director Verma, Maharashtra State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation Chief Engineer Dipali Bhaik, Home Department Deputy Secretary Ajit Kawade, Wardha Collector Vanmathi C., and Wardha Superintendent of Police Saurabh Agrawal.
