Maharashtra Sanctions Rs 23.33 Crore Crop Damage Aid for 17,245 Farmers

The Maharashtra government has sanctioned Rs 23.33 crore in financial assistance for 17,245 farmers across the state whose crops suffered severe damage from excessive rainfall, floods, cyclones, and hailstorms during June and July 2026.

Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Makarand Jadhav Patil announced that the relief funds will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of eligible farmers through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. The Relief and Rehabilitation Department issued a Government Resolution formalising the payout on August 27.

The sanctioned relief covers crop damage reported over an area of 11,207.79 hectares across multiple districts. Amravati division received the largest share of the compensation, with Rs 13.80 crore approved for 9,683 affected farmers across Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, and Buldhana districts.

In Pune division, which encompasses Pune and Satara districts, Rs 9.13 crore has been allocated to benefit 6,885 farmers. In Nagpur division, Rs 38.87 lakh will be disbursed to 661 farmers in Wardha district. In Konkan division, Rs 41,000 was approved for 16 affected farmers in Sindhudurg district.

Minister Patil stated that the relief amount must not be diverted toward recovering old bank loans or deposited into beneficiary loan accounts. District collectors have been instructed to direct all banks to ensure farmers receive the full financial assistance without any deductions.

The state government has also instructed tehsildars and district collectors to verify records to prevent duplicate payments. Following the completion of the distribution process, local administrations must publish beneficiary lists and assistance details on their official district websites.
