Maharashtra To Launch Online Portal For Home Delivery Of Government Publications

The Government of Maharashtra has approved the development of a new online platform and mobile application to facilitate the online sale and doorstep delivery of official government publications. The decision was formalized through a government order issued by the Industry, Energy, Labour and Mining Department in Mumbai on June 30, 2026.
The newly cleared project, named the "Online and Counter Book Store Application," will be hosted on the portal mahapublications.maharashtra.gov.in. This digital initiative is designed to modernize the state's distribution system for official literature and make it easily accessible to the general public.
To ensure seamless logistics and delivery, the state government has partnered with India Post. Through this partnership, citizens living anywhere in India will be able to order official Maharashtra government publications online and have them delivered directly to their homes.
According to the government order, the primary objective of launching the online platform and mobile application is to expand public access to official government literature. By transitioning to a digital platform, the Industry, Energy, Labour and Mining Department aims to overcome the limitations of physical distribution and provide a more convenient purchasing experience for citizens.
The portal and application will allow users to browse through available government publications, make purchases online, and track their deliveries. The integration with India Post's nationwide network ensures that the reach of these publications extends beyond the state of Maharashtra to interested readers across the country.
The initiative marks a significant step in the department's efforts to transition traditional administrative processes into digital formats. By establishing an online bookstore, the government is addressing long-standing challenges associated with accessing physical copies of state documents and publications.
Under the newly approved plan, the Industry, Energy, Labour and Mining Department will oversee the implementation of both the web portal and the mobile application. The digital bookstore is expected to serve as a centralized hub for all official state publications, making it easier for researchers, legal professionals, and the general public to obtain official records.
