Man Arrested for Murder of 17-Year-Old Girlfriend in Kandivali East

The Samta Nagar Police arrested a 29-year-old man on Friday, July 10, 2026, for the alleged murder of his 17-year-old girlfriend in a forested area near the Lovegarh locality, on the outskirts of Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Kandivali East, Mumbai.

The suspect, identified as Suraj Waghmare, was taken into custody after local residents discovered the teenager's body on Friday. The residents immediately alerted the local authorities to the discovery.

Upon receiving the information, a police team from the Samta Nagar Police Station rushed to the forested spot and launched an investigation.

According to the police, Waghmare suspected that his girlfriend was in contact with another person. This suspicion had led to frequent disputes between the two before the incident.

Following the initial investigation, the police arrested Waghmare. He remains in police custody as authorities continue their investigation into the case.
