Man Arrested for Trespassing into Restricted Area at Juhu Airport

The Santacruz police arrested a 27-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh on August 29 after he allegedly trespassed into a highly restricted area of Pawan Hans at Juhu Airport in Mumbai. The suspect was identified as Chandrapal Dhurve, a resident of Dindori district, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

According to police officials, Dhurve entered the airport premises by climbing over a closed gate that had no security guard stationed at the post. At approximately 12:15 pm, Maharashtra Security Force guard Pramod Sarvarkar, 52, spotted him walking along an internal road heading towards the Bombay Flying Club’s operational base and training area.

Dhurve failed to answer when confronted by security personnel. Around the same time, another guard, Somnath Khedkar, reported seeing an unidentified man walking along the main road toward the Bombay Flying Club. Following this report, Sarvarkar alerted chief security guard Sagar Halwankar.

Security personnel moved Dhurve to the Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower, where Sarvarkar and Halwankar formally apprehended him. He was subsequently escorted to the airport's main gate for further questioning. When asked why he was inside the restricted facility, Dhurve allegedly failed to give a valid explanation.

The airport security team informed their senior security officer and handed Dhurve over to the Santacruz police station. In his complaint, Sarvarkar noted that the man did not respond when questioned regarding his motives for entering the airport.

The Santacruz police have booked Dhurve under Section 329(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for criminal trespass. Investigators are currently looking into his background, how he managed to breach the perimeter, and the reason for his visit to Mumbai.
