Man hospitalised after brutal assault by 12 youths on Andheri-Virar train

A young man has been hospitalised after being brutally beaten by a group of 10 to 12 youths inside a moving Western Railway local train on the Andheri-Virar route. The violent incident occurred on the train between the Borivali and Dahisar stations in Mumbai.

The brutal assault was captured in a video that has gone viral on the internet. The visuals show the group of young attackers holding onto the train’s handrails and standing on the passenger seats as they repeatedly kicked and punched the victim.

Following the severe beating, the injured youth was admitted to a private hospital for medical treatment. The exact reason behind the brutal assault remains unclear, and the identity of the victim has not been released.

Western Railway authorities have taken note of the incident. Railway officials are currently gathering more information on the matter to investigate the attack.

The incident has once again highlighted growing safety concerns within Mumbai’s crowded suburban railway network. This attack is part of a series of recent violent incidents reported across the city's train lines. In a separate incident, another viral video showed two transgender women beating a man inside a moving Mumbai local train, although the reason for that altercation also remains unknown.

These events have kept public anxiety high, especially in the wake of the recent murder of Mayank Lohar on a Nalasopara-bound local train. Lohar was stabbed to death after a late-night altercation broke out between commuters over whether a train door should remain open or closed during heavy rains and overcrowding. The suspect in that case, Roshan Ramesh Suvarna, allegedly fled near Borivali station but was later detained in Panvel on June 24.

The latest assault on the Andheri-Virar train has further intensified demands from commuters for improved security and discipline inside Mumbai's local trains as railway authorities continue their inquiry.
