Man Murdered on Footpath Opposite D-Mart in CBD Belapur

An unidentified 30-year-old man was brutally murdered after being attacked with a sharp weapon on a footpath opposite D-Mart in Sector 15 of CBD Belapur, Navi Mumbai. The fatal incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, July 17, 2026.

According to the NRI Police, the attack took place at approximately 1:00 AM. The victim was standing on the footpath opposite the D-Mart store when an unidentified assailant approached him. The attacker allegedly struck the 30-year-old man on the head with a sharp weapon before fleeing from the spot.

Upon receiving information about the violent assault, police teams rushed to the scene. Officers found the severely injured victim and immediately shifted him to a nearby hospital. Despite their swift efforts to transport him, doctors at the hospital declared the man dead before any medical treatment could be administered.

Following the incident, the NRI Police registered a murder case against the unknown assailant. The offence has been registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The police have launched an active investigation to solve the crime. Law enforcement officials are currently making efforts to ascertain the identity of the deceased man while simultaneously conducting a search to locate and apprehend the accused attacker.

"We have registered a case of murder against an unidentified person and have launched a comprehensive investigation," an officer from the NRI Police said. "CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being examined, and efforts are underway to identify both the deceased and the accused. Further investigation is in progress."

At this stage, the identity of the 30-year-old victim is yet to be established by the investigating team. The NRI Police are continuing their efforts to gather clues and identify the unknown assailant who fled the spot after the attack.
