Man Suffers Severe Burns After Touching Overhead Wire at Ghatkopar Station

A commuter sustained severe burn injuries on Tuesday evening after climbing onto a local train halted at Ghatkopar station and coming into contact with an overhead electric wire during peak hours.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:33 pm while the train was stationary at Platform No. 3. An unidentified man climbed onto the train and touched the high-voltage wire, suffering severe burns to his back.

Following the incident, railway authorities switched off the overhead power supply between Vidyavihar and Kanjurmarg on the Down Through Line from 6:38 pm to 6:47 pm. Station security personnel reached the spot and brought the injured man down from the train roof.

The train was held up during the emergency response and eventually departed Ghatkopar station at around 6:52 pm, causing a delay of nearly 20 minutes.
