Mandar Waman Koli Marks 37 Years in Kho-Kho Across Thane and State Circuits

Thane sports administrator and international referee Mandar Waman Koli has marked the completion of a 37-year journey in Kho-Kho, tracing a sporting career that first began on the grounds of The United Sports Club in Thane. Over nearly four decades, Koli progressed from a grassroots competitor into an active match official, sports activist, and key administrator across district and state bodies.

Koli's administrative responsibilities include serving as the Secretary of The Amateur Kho-Kho Association, Thane District, covering the 2022 to 2026 tenure. Before taking on the district leadership, he served three consecutive terms on the referee panel of the Maharashtra Kho-Kho Association from 2010 to 2022, working on officiating governance within the state.

His refereeing career extended to international events, where he officiated the India versus England showcase fixture in Navi Mumbai. Koli also led the organising committee for the international match between India and Nepal, which took place at the Paryache Maidan in Vitawa. Within the city, his organisational work included staging the Thane Mayor's Cup as well as mentoring regional referees and young athletes.

Alongside his sports career, Koli has maintained a 21-year tenure as an institutional member at Joshi-Bedekar College in Thane, balancing professional duties with his athletic assignments.

Addressing his dual career, Koli stated: "Balancing international match operations and state sports administration alongside daily professional duties is only possible when your institution stands firmly behind you. The trust, guidance, and encouragement extended by the management, principal, and my colleagues at Joshi-Bedekar College over these 21 years have been my greatest strength."

Commending his contribution, Dr. Suchitra A. Naik, Principal of Joshi-Bedekar College, said: "Mandar Koli embodies the spirit of quiet dedication and institutional integrity. To balance two decades of sincere academic service while rising to lead national and international sports initiatives is an exceptional feat. He remains a living example for our students of how discipline, humility, and passion can build a meaningful career."
