Mankhurd Woman Loses Rs 19,000 After Two Men Swap Card at HDFC Bank ATM

A woman lost Rs 19,000 in Mankhurd on August 5 after two men secretly swapped her ATM card while she was conducting a transaction at an HDFC Bank ATM near Mangal Murti Junction.

According to police reports, the two accused men stood near the victim and watched her enter her Personal Identification Number (PIN) while she was using the machine. Using sleight of hand, the suspects managed to secretly exchange her original bank card with a different one before she completed her transaction.

Unaware that the switch had taken place, the victim left the ATM premises believing she still had her genuine card in her possession. The fraudsters then used her actual card and the PIN they had observed to fraudulently withdraw Rs 19,000 from her account.

Upon discovering the fraudulent transaction and realizing she had been duped, the victim approached the authorities. The Mankhurd police registered a case in connection with the crime under Sections 303(2) and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The alleged accused in the case have been identified as Parvez Akbar Ali Sheikh and Kismat Ali Barkat Ali Sheikh.
