Man's Body Found Stuffed in Sack on Versova Beach, Murder Case Filed

The Versova police have registered a murder case against an unidentified person after the decomposed body of an unknown man was found washed ashore on Thursday evening. The body was discovered stuffed inside a gunny bag behind the Hindu cemetery at Devachiwadi on JP Road in Versova, with the victim's hands and legs bound.
A team from the Versova police station rushed to the beach after being alerted by the police control room about the bag washing ashore. Upon opening the sack, officers found the remains of the victim, who had visible wounds around his neck. The deceased is estimated to have been between 30 and 35 years old.
Following the discovery, the police sent the body to Cooper Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Investigators suspect that the killer tied the victim up inside the sack and dumped it into the sea in an attempt to destroy evidence before the tides brought it back to the coastline.
Police are currently working to establish the victim's identity. Physical examinations revealed that the man had an 'Om' tattoo alongside the name 'Basant Lal' inscribed on his right hand. Officials describe him as having a fair complexion, a strong build, thin black hair, and standing approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall.
At the time of the discovery, the deceased was dressed in a black sleeveless T-shirt featuring red, black, and white designs on the front, paired with black track pants.
To trace the man's identity and locate his family, the Versova police have begun cross-checking missing-person complaints filed across police stations throughout Mumbai as the investigation into the homicide continues.
