Marathi Folk Singer Booked for Alleged Rs 20 Lakh Job Fraud in Kalyan

Vitthalwadi police have registered a case against Marathi folk singer Nisha Bhagat and an associate, Anil Ahire, for allegedly cheating a 27-year-old Kalyan resident of Rs 20 lakh under the pretext of securing a government job at Ulhasnagar Central Hospital.

The case was registered following a formal complaint lodged by Sayali Chavan, a resident of Kalyan. According to the complaint, Chavan's parents are singers and performers, which led to Bhagat and Ahire frequently visiting their home and participating in musical performances alongside the family.

Chavan alleged that the accused leveraged this close association to win the family's trust. During their interactions, Bhagat and Ahire claimed to have strong connections across several government departments and assured Chavan that they could arrange government employment for her and her husband.

Between March and September 2023, the accused allegedly collected Rs 20 lakh from Chavan for the promised position at the state-run Central Hospital in Ulhasnagar. However, the promised employment was never provided, and the accused reportedly refused to return the money despite repeated demands.

Following the complaint, the Vitthalwadi police initiated an inquiry into the incident. Investigators are also probing whether any staff members at Ulhasnagar Central Hospital were involved in the alleged job-for-money racket.

Senior Police Inspector Chandrahas Godse stated that notices have been issued to both accused individuals to record their statements. He added that no arrests have been made so far as the investigation progresses.
