Marine Drive Police Book Drivers of Speeding Cars After South Mumbai Video Emerges

The Marine Drive Police have registered a case against six to seven unidentified car drivers for allegedly speeding and driving dangerously along the southbound stretch of Marine Drive in South Mumbai. The speeding incident, which occurred late on September 3, allegedly compromised road safety and posed a hazard to other motorists.

According to police records, the incident took place at around 11:15 pm on September 3, when several high-speed vehicles were spotted moving along the southbound carriageway. Purported visuals of the driving subsequently surfaced on social media platforms, showing multiple cars travelling in convoy at excessive speeds.

The footage showed several cars, including vehicles in shades of green, red, yellow, and black, navigating the arterial South Mumbai road in a manner that triggered immediate safety concerns among the public and authorities.

Following the circulation of the video, a formal complaint was lodged by Police Constable Satish Nivrutti Sangle, 42, who is attached to the Marine Drive Police Station. Based on his complaint, an official First Information Report was registered at the police station at around 10:55 pm on September 4.

Police have booked the unidentified drivers under Sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertain to rash driving and acts endangering life or personal safety. The drivers have also been charged under Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act for dangerous driving.

Investigators have identified the vehicles seen in the viral video footage, though no arrests have been made in connection with the case so far. Marine Drive Police stated that a further investigation into the incident is underway to trace the registered owners and drivers involved.
