Mayor Ritu Tawde Orders Action Over Medicine Shortages At Rajawadi Hospital In Ghatkopar

MUMBAI - Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde conducted a surprise inspection at Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar on Monday. The visit was initiated after the Mayor received complaints alleging that patients at the facility were being forced to purchase medicines from outside the hospital.

During her inspection of the Ghatkopar hospital, Mayor Tawde reviewed the overall functioning of the institution, evaluated its cleanliness, and assessed the quality of patient services. She personally visited and inspected several departments, including the female medical ward, the maternity ward, the male medical ward, the antenatal ward, the paediatric department, and the male surgery ward.

While touring these various departments, the Mayor interacted directly with the patients who were admitted there. This interaction was aimed at understanding their personal concerns and assessing the quality of treatment and facilities that the hospital is providing to them.

Following her review of the supply of medicines and vaccines, which was conducted in response to the complaints regarding shortages, Mayor Tawde issued several directives to the hospital officials. She ordered them to ensure proper documentation of all supplies and to make sure that daily vaccination services continue without any interruption.

In addition, the Mayor sought detailed information regarding the shortage of injections for critical illnesses. She instructed the Rajawadi Hospital authorities to convene an urgent meeting with the concerned officials to address and resolve this specific issue.

Tawde also directed the hospital administration to maintain high standards in the quality of meals served to patients under the thali system, emphasizing that patient welfare must remain the top priority.

From a safety perspective, she ordered the immediate replacement of old electrical wiring on the premises. She also directed that repainting work be undertaken across the hospital premises.
