MBVV Police Hold Public Meet Ahead of Dahi Handi and Ganeshotsav

The Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar Police Commissionerate held a public meeting to review security, civic preparations, and law-and-order arrangements for the upcoming Dahi Handi and Ganeshotsav celebrations. The meeting focused on public safety and featured a question-and-answer session with local residents and festival representatives.
The meeting drew senior police leadership, elected representatives, and civic administrative heads from across the region. Attendees included Police Commissioner Nikhet Kaushik, Palghar District MP Hemant Savara, Nalasopara MLA Rajan Naik, and Vasai MLA Sneha Dubey Pandit.
Municipal Corporation Mayor Ajiv Patil, Municipal Commissioner Prithviraj B.P., House Leader Praful Sane, and Leader of Opposition Manoj Patil also took part in the proceedings alongside several corporators. Hundreds of office-bearers and volunteers from various local Dahi Handi and Ganeshotsav mandals attended to discuss operational plans for the celebrations.
Key issues raised during the meeting included the maintenance of street lighting, poor road conditions across the commissionerate, and arrangements needed at both natural and artificial immersion ponds. Traffic management and planned route diversions were also reviewed to mitigate potential gridlock during the festive period.
Authorities and organisers further discussed measures to manage crowds gathered at public bhandaras, enforcement of DJ sound and decibel-level regulations, and the widespread installation of CCTV cameras for surveillance. The session concluded with an emphasis on close coordination among police personnel, municipal authorities, mandal organisers, and local citizens to maintain peace and ensure celebrations proceed without disruption.
