MDMA and Alcohol Found in System of Man Who Died After NSCI Dome Concert in Worli

A forensic toxicology report has confirmed the presence of MDMA and alcohol in the system of a 28-year-old man who died one month ago after attending a music concert at the NSCI Dome in Worli, Mumbai. Although the substances were present, authorities have ruled out a direct drug overdose as the primary cause of death, noting that the MDMA and alcohol did not reach lethal concentrations.
The deceased, identified as Vrishabh Gangurde, was a law graduate and a resident of Mahim. Gangurde had attended the music event at the NSCI Dome alongside a 31-year-old female friend. During the concert, both individuals reportedly developed sudden health complications.
According to officials, Gangurde began complaining of feeling unwell by 9:40 pm on the night of the concert. He was immediately rushed to Breach Candy Hospital, where he was declared dead at 10:25 pm. Gangurde came from a family of doctors.
Meanwhile, his female friend was taken to Jaslok Hospital for medical attention. Officials close to the case indicated that an initial toxicology screening for the woman detected the presence of LSD in her system. However, Jaslok Hospital could not confirm this finding at the time.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jayant Meena of Zone 3 confirmed that the toxicology results for Gangurde showed the presence of MDMA. DCP Meena stated that the ongoing police investigation is strictly focused on the circumstances surrounding the death of Gangurde, rather than the medical condition of the woman who fell ill.
As part of the inquiry, the woman was asked during a verbal interview with authorities if she had consumed any narcotic substances. According to DCP Meena, she denied consuming any drugs. The police continue to investigate the events of that night.
