Metro 2B Crane Breakdown Causes 1.5-km Traffic Jam at Juhu Circle

A technical snag in a 400-metric-tonne crane deployed for Metro Line 2B construction triggered a massive 1.5-kilometre traffic backlog at Juhu Circle and near JVPD Junction on Thursday morning.

The vehicular congestion severely disrupted the morning commute in the area, hitting school transport particularly hard. Residents reported that several students reached their schools more than an hour late as vehicles remained stranded in the gridlock.

Following the disruption, Jotmani noted that the school granted an exemption to the students who were affected by the delays. The local residents' group LOCA also alerted the traffic police to help manage the situation and clear the snarl.

According to residents, ongoing construction and infrastructure work associated with the Metro Line 2B project has been consistently contributing to traffic issues and slow vehicular movement across the Juhu locality.
