The MIDC police's anti-narcotics squad arrested a man and seized 302 grams of heroin valued at approximately ₹3.50 crore in the Poonam Nagar area of Jogeshwari East, officials said.
The operation unfolded while an assistant police inspector from the anti-narcotics squad and his team were patrolling the area on August 22. The patrol was part of an enforcement drive to crack down on individuals involved in the consumption, purchase, sale, and transportation of narcotic substances.
In the early hours of August 23, at around 12:10 am, the police team spotted a man behaving suspiciously in front of Hemant Karkare Garden, located near Sahakari Bhandar in Jogeshwari East. When the man noticed the police personnel, he allegedly attempted to flee from the spot.
The officers intercepted him and began questioning him, but he allegedly avoided answering their queries. During a subsequent physical search, the police found that the suspect was carrying contraband. The officers recovered 302 grams of heroin from his possession, estimated to be worth ₹3.50 crore.
