Minister Madhuri Misal Directs Civic Amenities Push for Kanhan Municipal Council

The Maharashtra government will take positive steps to provide essential civic amenities to residents of the Kanhan Municipal Council area, Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal announced on Thursday.

Speaking at a review meeting held at Mantralaya in Mumbai to assess civic issues in Kanhan, Misal directed officials to immediately submit proposals seeking funds for multiple infrastructure projects. The works include the development of a weekly market, a crematorium, a vegetable market, and a garden in the municipal area.

The minister stated that if government land is not available for setting up the weekly market and the crematorium, authorities should provide funds for the acquisition of private land. She instructed officials to prepare a comprehensive development plan specifically for the crematorium facility.

Misal also told officials to examine funding options under the Nagarothan scheme. She noted that financial provisions under the scheme could be allocated either in phased stages or by categorising the proposed civic works, with funds to be released in accordance with established rules.

Additional connectivity and public space projects were also taken up during the review. Misal instructed authorities to submit a formal proposal for the construction of a bus station at a plot reserved for the facility, and asked officials to study the feasibility of developing a public garden on amenity space reserved at Mouza Kanhan.

The minister called for fresh proposals to construct shops and commercial premises if suitable land is identified for the purpose. She further directed administrative officials to take action, in accordance with applicable rules, to clear encroachments from reserved plots across the municipal council limits.
