Minor Held in Khar West for Murder of Construction Worker Uncle

The Khar police have apprehended a 17-year-old boy for allegedly murdering his 35-year-old uncle and concealing his body under construction material at a building site in Khar West.

The deceased was identified as Ravishankar Nandkishor Giri, a 35-year-old construction worker hailing from Samastipur in Bihar. His body was recovered on August 18 from the AOS Genesis construction site on Road No. 7, opposite SBI Bank in Khar West, after the Western Control Room alerted Khar police around 12:30 pm that a man was lying unconscious under cement bags. A police team reached the spot and found Giri dead.

Investigators believe the murder occurred between 9:30 am and 2:00 pm on August 17. Following the recovery of the body, Khar police registered a case under Sections 103(1) and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

According to the police, the accused, identified as the victim's 17-year-and-eight-month-old nephew Vishalkumar Ramlakhan Giri, initially approached authorities posing as the complainant in an attempt to mislead the investigation and gain sympathy.

However, investigators noticed inconsistencies in his statements, body language, movements, and his timeline of events. Investigators subsequently questioned the teenager using scientific and technical methods.

Police correlated technical evidence from the crime scene with accounts provided by other workers at the site. The findings confirmed discrepancies in the minor's statements, establishing his alleged involvement in the killing.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the murder was committed following a dispute concerning an illicit relationship. The minor has been taken into custody, and further legal proceedings are underway.

The investigation was conducted under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Santosh Kate, along with day-shift supervisor and investigating officer Police Inspector Rahul Deshmukh, and Police Inspector Prakash More (Crime).

The investigating team also included Assistant Police Inspectors Sandeep Patil, Yogesh Jadhav, and Hanmant Kumbhare; Police Sub-Inspectors Dinesh Patil, Shailesh Chaudhary, and Bhagyashree Shahane; and police personnel Rajkumar Kamble, Kundan Kadam, Ajit Mahadik, Vinod Madatwadkar, Mahesh Lahamge, Namdev Sawant, Vishal Bhamre, Santosh Kamble, Abhijit Kadam, Sumit Ahivale, Sachin Chavan, and Manik Thombre.
