MMRDA Approves Metro Line 4 Foot Over Bridge to Godrej Campus in Vikhroli

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) on 18 July, 2026, approved the construction of a direct foot over bridge (FOB) in the Vikhroli area of Mumbai. The newly approved infrastructure will directly connect a Metro station on the Mumbai Metro Line 4 with the Godrej commercial campus, providing a seamless link for daily commuters.
According to the MMRDA, this initiative is a key part of its broader strategy to strengthen last-mile connectivity across the city's expanding transit network. By linking the Metro Line 4 station directly to a major commercial hub, the authority aims to make public transit more accessible and convenient for the workforce in Vikhroli.
The planning authority highlighted several key benefits of the upcoming foot over bridge. Primarily, the project is designed to provide commuters with seamless, direct access between the Metro station and the adjoining commercial and residential developments in the vicinity. This direct connection means commuters will no longer need to navigate ground-level traffic to reach their final destinations.
In addition to convenience, the MMRDA emphasized that the foot over bridge will significantly improve pedestrian safety in the busy Vikhroli locality. By separating pedestrian movement from vehicular traffic, the bridge is expected to reduce the risk of accidents on the busy roads surrounding the commercial campus.
The project is also expected to reduce travel times for thousands of daily commuters. By streamlining the transfer from the Metro station to the Godrej campus, the MMRDA hopes to make the overall journey faster and more efficient, thereby encouraging a greater use of public transport among local employees and residents.
Through these targeted infrastructure improvements, the MMRDA continues to focus on integrating transit systems with surrounding developments to create a more cohesive and pedestrian-friendly urban environment in Mumbai.
