MNS Ambernath City Chief Shailesh Shirke Arrested for Assault on BJP Leader

Police have arrested Shailesh Shirke, the Ambernath city unit president of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), along with his aide for allegedly assaulting local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office-bearer Laxmi Narayan Chauhan at his office in Ambernath during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to police officials, the incident was the fallout of a previous enmity between the individuals involved. Shirke and his associate allegedly targeted Chauhan at his office premises during the late-night attack.

Following the alleged assault, tensions escalated as supporters from both political parties gathered. A clash subsequently broke out between BJP and MNS workers at the Shivaji Nagar police station in Ambernath.

The confrontation at the police station prompted law enforcement authorities to step up security measures in the area to prevent any further violence between the rival political groups.

Police confirmed that MNS city chief Shailesh Shirke and his aide were taken into custody following the incident. Heightened security remains in place as officials handle the aftermath of the clashes.
