Mohatsim Dhanse killed, friend injured in scooty crash near Rile village in Raigad

A 19-year-old scooty rider was killed and his friend was severely injured on Saturday afternoon after crashing into the rear of a dangerously parked truck at the river bridge near Rile village on the Mangaon-Shrivardhan road in Raigad. The fatal accident occurred at around 2:15 PM when the two youths were traveling together.

The deceased rider has been identified as Mohatsim Mubin Dhanse, 19. The pillion rider, who sustained severe injuries, has been identified as Sufiyan Nasir Bandarkar, 19. Both of the victims were residents of Morba village in Mangaon taluka.

According to PSI Sagar Jadhav of the Mangaon police station, the two teenagers were riding their scooty from Morba towards Mangaon. Upon reaching the river bridge near Rile village, located approximately one kilometre before Mangaon on the Mangaon-Shrivardhan stretch of road, the scooty crashed directly into the rear of a truck parked on the roadside.

The impact of the crash was highly severe. Police officials confirmed that neither of the youths was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Consequently, both riders sustained grievous head injuries. Dhanse sustained major injuries to his head and his left hand, while Bandarkar sustained severe injuries to the back of his head, just above the neck area.

PSI Jadhav highlighted the negligence of the truck driver, stating that the vehicle had been parked in a highly dangerous manner. The driver had neither switched on the parking lights of the truck nor placed a reflector stand behind the vehicle to warn oncoming traffic on the road.

Following the accident, both of the injured youths were rushed to the Mangaon sub-district hospital. Dhanse was declared brought dead upon arrival by the hospital doctors. Meanwhile, Bandarkar is receiving medical care for his severe head injuries.
