Mother and Infant Son Killed in Heavy Vehicle Collision in Mumbra's Retibunder

A woman and her one-year-old son were killed after a speeding heavy vehicle knocked down their two-wheeler in the Retibunder area of Mumbra near Thane, police said on Monday.

The deceased have been identified by the authorities as Saniya Banu and her toddler son, Shahzeb. Both victims were residents of Bhiwandi.

According to police officials, the fatal collision took place on August 29. Saniya Banu, her infant child, and two relatives were riding on a motorcycle, returning to their home in Bhiwandi after visiting Saniya's maternal residence in Mumbra for Eid celebrations.

While they were passing through the Retibunder area, a speeding heavy vehicle struck their two-wheeler. The collision led to the deaths of the mother and her one-year-old child.
