Mother of assaulted Kalyan doctor demands safety after attack by Shiv Sena corporator

KALYAN — The mother of a doctor who was allegedly assaulted by a local political leader has demanded stronger protection and safety measures for medical professionals. The demand follows an incident on Monday at the civic-run Shastri Nagar Hospital in Kalyan, located in the Thane district of Maharashtra.
Sangeeta Baviskar, the mother of victim Dr. Srishti Baviskar, spoke to reporters in Kalyan to address the physical confrontation. She became visibly emotional while condemning Monday’s incident, which took place at the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC)-run healthcare facility.
According to reports, Dr. Srishti Baviskar and another doctor were allegedly assaulted by Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Mhatre at the Shastri Nagar Hospital. The incident has raised serious concerns regarding the safety of medical staff working in civic-run hospitals across the Thane region.
During her address to the press, Sangeeta Baviskar strongly condemned the actions of the corporator. She called on authorities to implement more robust security protocols to ensure that doctors and medical staff can perform their duties without fear of violence or harassment.
