MP Nimbalkar Demands Crop Loss Survey and Aid for Marathwada Farmers

Dharashiv MP from Shiv Sena Omprakash Raje Nimbalkar has demanded that the Government of Maharashtra conduct immediate surveys of crops dried up due to inadequate rainfall and provide financial compensation to affected farmers in the Marathwada region.

In a formal letter sent to Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Mr. Nimbalkar highlighted that the Marathwada region has experienced almost no rainfall over the past 45 days. The prolonged dry spell has resulted in severe damage to agricultural output across the region.

Mr. Nimbalkar pointed out that the soybean crop has dried up due to the lack of water, pushing local cultivators into severe financial distress. Terming the situation critical, he urged the state government to conduct formal damage assessments through the revenue and agriculture departments so that eligible farmers who have faced losses can receive financial assistance.

The entire Marathwada region has been grappling with a rainfall deficit since June 1. According to official data, the region's eight districts have recorded an average of 381 mm of rainfall, which represents 77% of the expected 498.8 mm.

The Dharashiv Lok Sabha constituency has been particularly affected, registering a rainfall deficit of 25.3%. A report from the revenue department indicated that Dharashiv district received just 301.5 mm of rainfall against the average expected rainfall of 403.5 mm.
