MPSC Computer Based Exams Postponed To August 2027 Says Devendra Fadnavis

The Maharashtra government has officially postponed the implementation of the Computer-Based Test (CBT) system for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examinations. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the decision on Thursday, July 16, 2026, in Mumbai, confirming that the digital transition will now be deferred until August 2027.

Until the new implementation date in August 2027, all MPSC examinations across the state will continue to be conducted through the existing offline, pen-and-paper format.

The government's decision to delay the digital format comes in direct response to demands raised by several student organisations and competitive examination aspirants. These candidates and student groups had actively sought more time to prepare for the transition from the traditional pen-and-paper exams to the digital examination system.

According to the state government, the additional period will allow candidates to familiarise themselves with the online examination process.

Furthermore, the extension will enable the MPSC to strengthen its required digital infrastructure. The commission will also use this period to bolster its administrative systems before introducing the new computer-based format.
