MRVC Completes Over 20 Suburban Rail Works in July After Capital Boost

The Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation completed or commissioned more than 20 major infrastructure works across several suburban rail projects in July, covering locations from Panvel-Karjat to Sion.

The infrastructure push followed a decision by the Maharashtra Cabinet on July 28 to approve a substantial increase in the corporation's authorised share capital. The Cabinet approved raising the authorised share capital from Rs 25 crore to Rs 500 crore.

During July, the executed works encompassed bridges, subways, electrification, signalling, elevated decks, booking facilities, and land acquisition. Engineering teams launched 42 girders at multiple locations and completed extensive overhead electrification work.

Among the key individual project timelines, the new Sion bridge is currently targeted for commissioning in September 2026.
