MSEDCL Launches Recovery Drive as Bhandup Circle Dues Reach Rs 104 Crore

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has launched a special recovery drive targeting approximately 3 lakh low-tension electricity consumers across its Bhandup circle, which includes Thane, after outstanding power bills mounted to Rs 104.34 crore.

The power distribution utility has issued a stern warning across all consumer categories, including domestic, commercial, and industrial users, asking them to pay their pending dues immediately. Defaulters who fail to clear their arrears face prompt disconnection of their electricity supply in accordance with established rules.

The Bhandup circle encompasses three major divisions: Thane, Vashi, and Pen. All three jurisdictions have accumulated significant unpaid amounts, prompting the state distribution utility to intensify enforcement and revenue collection measures.

Among the divisions within the circle, the Vashi division accounts for the single highest share of arrears. In Vashi alone, 1,15,622 consumers collectively owe Rs 47 crore in unpaid power bills.

According to MSEDCL, domestic consumers make up the largest proportion of the total outstanding dues across the Bhandup circle. The state utility is now pushing to recover the pending arrears through its targeted drive across the affected regions.
