MSEDCL Live Wire Snaps in Nalasopara East, Burning Parked Bike

A parked motorcycle was gutted in the Oswal Nagari area of Nalasopara East on Tuesday afternoon after a live electricity wire belonging to the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) snapped and fell onto the road. The incident took place at around 1:30 pm in front of Baba Agency Society during rain, though no injuries were reported.

The Bajaj Freedom motorcycle belonged to Abhishek Samdarshi, who had parked the vehicle at the spot. A live electrical wire attached to a utility pole suddenly broke and fell to the ground, triggering intense sparks. The sparks quickly ignited the motorcycle's tyre and front portion.

Within moments, the two-wheeler was completely engulfed in flames, creating panic across the neighbourhood. The spot where the incident occurred is situated near a dental clinic, Lords Tutorial English School, and several private coaching classes, raising safety concerns among local residents and students.

Because no pedestrians or bystanders were present near the motorcycle when the wire fell, a major tragedy was narrowly avoided. However, the two-wheeler suffered extensive damage in the fire. A CCTV video capturing the incident has also surfaced.

Following the event, local residents expressed anger toward MSEDCL, alleging that the power utility has failed to perform adequate maintenance and take necessary precautions regarding electrical wires. Residents have demanded an immediate inspection of dangerous and damaged utility wires across the area to prevent similar incidents in the future.
